I can’t say enough good things about this synth … I wish i had the cash 2 buy one on ebay they are Pretty expensive CLASSIC SYNTHS right now so they do get pretty expensive.
How ever if you are into vst’s there is hope …. I do use a VST version of the Korg Mono Poly ….
Whats so nice about this is that the VST was Developed by KORG so you are pretty much getting the real deal with out the hands on of the actual machine just use your midi controller to operate it. Most Sequences allow you to do midi mapping now so you can map each function to a key on the midi controller which is a lot of fun.
I often Do a lot of bass lines with it and a lot of SYNTH leads i personally just LOVE how this synth sounds
Below is a great DEMO video of it … Whats happening is he is using the ARP function along with the latch this is how he hits say a C chord or F# SHARP CHORD and the ARP keeps going which leaves you time to really play with the filters Envelopes the release sustain and delays , etc
SOME TECH INFO ON THE KORG 1981 MONO POLY
The Korg MonoPoly came out 1981 and was the last analogue monophonic synthesizer from Korg (ok, they have now the Monotron, but this is rather a toy). Actually, the MonoPoly is a monophonic synth – but you can play it polyphonically, too – if necessary.
The Korg/Mono Poly is a very flexible synthesizer: It has 4 oscillators, oscillator sync, cross modulation, PWM, noise generator (white noise), 24 dB Filter, 2 ADSR envelopes, 2 LFO’s with many waveforms, ARPEGGIATOR, CHORD MEMORY and portamento. The built in microprocessor makes many things possible: chord memory, arpeggiator, key assign and polyphony.
It is built around SSM chips like the Korg Polysix. I think, with the MONOPOLY Korg wanted to produce a synth as an alternative to the Minimoog and Sequential Circuits Pro One. Please don’t expect it to sound like a Minimoog. The Minimoog remains one of the best sounding analog synths, and the Monopoly (like many others) can not compete in terms of sound quality. The basic sound is a bit “lo fi” but not too much like the MS series. It is a flexible instrument with an amazing potential.
The most characteristic thing on the MonoPoly is the arpeggiator, when it triggers the oscillators in poly-mode. Every step of the arpeggiator triggers a different oscillator – unique patterns can be produced.
For more cool synths check out the analog audio channel on Youtube
Below is a pic of what one side of the VST interface looks like the MAIN CONTROLL PANAL
200 Sounds Bass, Leads , Pads , Sequence Loops massive threat has it all 4 electronic music … I just was on the N.I site and did not see it for sale there any more….
It seems that it has been taken off but i am sure you can get it from a local music dealer. I did not see it included in the new version of komplete which is version 8.
a bit of history about this sound pack
Massive Threat was created by Massive’s original designer, one of Native Instruments’ most accomplished synthesis and sound design experts. Through sophisticated usage of Massive’s advanced sound shaping features, Massive Threat provides “an inspirational arsenal of previously unheard digital tones and textures, evoking dystopian vibes that are perfectly suited for Dubstep and similar dark sound aesthetics.”
You can do just about any type of electronic music with this sound pack but to get the most out of it you should really use the massive synth. That way you have full control over the single flow the 3 oscillators and the noise generator, along with the filters and efx etc… Plus if you want to edit the Loops Or Sequences you should use the full version of massive this alloys you edit the stepper and lfo ETC … This is how any one can create loops or sequences with in massive. This is more for advanced users of the massive unit and people that are deep into synthesis
To my knowledge Native Instruments have taken massive expansion pack treat off their site 4 purchase ,,,, You can find out more from nativeinstruments.com or calling the Berlin office if you speak German or try the California office for English speaking. I definitely suggest getting a copy of this most versatile sound pack ….
F.Y.I   ……………. Native Instruments has decided to discontinue the KORE 2 the free kore player is still supported but 4 those of you that knew how 2 use KORE 2 and Use the SEQ and Layering up sounds etc…. It’s a sad day this was decided over 4 months ago or so actually. The N.I team has decided to focus on Machine which is pretty kool hardware controller and software….. Be sure to check out their site 4 any questions you have about Massive Threat Expansion pack … Kore Player and Machine …. Rock On There is a video on You Tube but i refuse to put it up on the site this guy has no idea about synthesis @ all
Found this article on the net browsing around , been really into reactor last year ,its so versatile and complex yet can be very simple , you can make very traditional sounding material or far out there crazy off the wall sounds. Â It fits in no category , it has no limits , no boundaries , no rules , just pure powerful technical ability and creativity… so read about how it started and it’s creator …
Stephan Schmitt began working on Reaktor (originally called Generator) in a small home office in Berlin back in 1995. His vision: to transform standard computers into musical instruments and to empower musicians to access the full potential of sound synthesis and signal processing.
As an active keyboarder and live musician, Stephan had been looking to escape the limitations inherent in expensive and relatively inflexible hardware synthesizers.
With a hardware engineering background, he developed mixing desks before making the jump into the virtual world of software instruments and founding Native Instruments. The company is now an incontestable world leading creator of software intruments and effects, DJ products, Guitar effects, and extensive sound libraries.
THE NEWEST SYNTH 4 REACTOR NAMED RAZOR an additive synth very complex with a very simple to use easy interface you can make a Variety of sounds great 4 basses and leads , sound scapes to sound fx’s everything you might need to produce some computer dance music ! Â use the presets or start with an initial patch and create your own.
Opened it up out the box about 1 and a half weeks ago , I CAN”T GET ENOUGH … Dave Smith is definitely the BOB MOOG of our day ! The Tetra is a polyphonic synth it’s a little mod…or a synth with out the keys …
The price is a bit expensive but you really get what you pay for . It has 4 banks of a 128 sounds . it has 2 modes it works in COMBO mode and Regular mode combo mode is really kool. There are 128 combo settings that are @ your finger tips to play with and with 4 banks of 128 sounds the Dave Smith Tetra leaves u hungry for no more !
Whats really nice about it is it’s SIZE its really small , takes up no room at all on my desktop. ITS REALLY POWERFUL !!! , it works great with the mac or pc , it has MIDI IN / OUT … (standard) the plus is the USB out , so u can go out of the tetra with the usb and and use your midi controller to activate it ! … this might sound like a really small little thing but whats great is the power chord is almost 2 meters or 6 feet long which is really quite rare ! also its 120 or 220 volts built in so you can take it any where in the world with no problems and it comes with a connection for US , UK and EU so no need to go out and spend all kinds of money on connections etc.
I honestly just can not get enough of this amazing SYNTH it’s small powerful and loud with so much versatility. It also has a free software download that allows you to access the full parameters of sounds the sound banks , an arp and sequencer. There is a paid version that allows you to save your custom sounds that you can build in the Dave smith tetra but i have not tried that … The software could be better but it’s not bad i noticed that it does react different when i am using it on the pc verse the mac both have pros and cons.
Check out Sonic Labs Review on The dave smith tetra it’s a more thero review on the actual specs then i have described this guy from the UK is a real synthlogist

Overview
Tetra is our next-generation analog poly synth. Tetra takes the award-winning sound and features of Mopho, multiplies them by four, and packs them in a box less than half an inch larger!
Tetra has multiple personalities. It is a four-voice, analog poly synth, a sort of “mini Prophet.” It’s a four-part, multitimbral synth with separate outputs, essentially four Mophos in one very compact box. And it’s a voice expander for other Tetras or the Prophet ’08.
Outside the Box
Physically, Tetra is similar to Mopho, with four assignable parameter controls per program and a row of controls dedicated to the most commonly used performance parameters. All of the parameters can be accessed from the front panel and Tetra is fully programmable. A free, downloadable editor is available for Mac OS and Windows to facilitate more comprehensive tweaking.
Most of the rotary controls are detented encoders, but Cutoff and Resonance are potentiometers, allowing full sweeps with a single turn. The Push It button is a manual trigger to play notes and latch sequences on without the need for a MIDI controller.
Audio is output in mono, stereo, or per voice, via the four audio output jacks. There is also a headphone out. MIDI communication is by standard MIDI in and out jacks or USB. Poly Chain Out is a special, dedicated MIDI output to chain multiple instruments for increased polyphony.
Under the Hood
The voice architecture is based on the Prophet ’08, but with the addition of a sub-octave generator for each oscillator and a fully programmable feedback loop for each voice. That breaks down to two DCOs, a resonant low-pass filter, three DADSR envelope generators, four LFOS, deep modulation routing, an arpeggiator, and a 16 x 4 analog-style step sequencer per voice. Feedback is capable of producing effects ranging from mild distortion to fairly extreme harmonic instability. (That’s a good thing.) The possibilities are nearly endless. And the audio signal path is 100% analog.
Tetra a la Mode
In Program Mode, Tetra is a four-voice, polyphonic synthesizer with four banks of 128 programs. As with the Prophet ’08, each program contains two layers—each layer is essentially a separate patch—that can be used to create keyboard splits or stacked sounds. Banks 1 and 2 are the Prophet ’08 factory programs; banks 3 and 4 are a combination of Mopho and new programs.
In Combo Mode, a different program can be assigned to each of the four voices. Combos can be used for mammoth unison patches or for triggering up to four different 16 x 4 sequences—each with its own program—simultaneously. Combos can also be used to create “modular-style” polyphonic patches, where each voice plays a different program, with a slight variation on the same sound or even a drastically different sound.
In Multi Mode, Tetra becomes a multitimbral sound module capable of playing four monophonic parts on four MIDI channels, with separate outputs for each voice. Coupled with a MIDI sequencer and DAW, Tetra can play complex arrangements or analog drum parts with each part individually processed and recorded to its own track.
I can not say enough good things about this VST PLUG IN it’s AMAZING , for one I really like this plug in because of how easy it is on your processor. You can run this on a very slow computer. You must remember that the vanguard by ReFx is NOT A STAND ALONE ! It needs a host such as abelton or cuebase ,logic etc ! This plug in has a VERY EASY INTERFACE to navigate though it will only take you about one night to get a grasp of the interface. It has 3 oscillators , many kool wav forms, a trans gate , an arp , great control over the glide , a killer envelope , a lfo AMP , DELAY and VERB and a KILLER Filter.
Like i said it’s really nice because of how it’s coded , it takes up no processor power @ all to run it. You can have many different instances of the vanguard in one project with no lag. There ARE SO SO MANY refill packs for this machine and also u can make your own sounds which is really nice. Or just edit the presets that are available. This machine having a trans gate and arp leave so many many options open to the end user which is GREAT ! so be sure to check out the vanguard from REFX !
This synth ROCKS I recently just got this I have not had it more then 3 months i know it’s old and nothing new but I FRICKING LOVE THAT KORG SOUNDS , I particularly use the korg software when i am in ableton or logic , I NEVER CAN GET ENGOUGH OF THAT KORG i often go to it for my bass sounds i often go to it for my leads and my pads I frickin love it , now i know that is just me and not every one will feel this way but me I love it , lets talk about the down sides to this synth for a minute.
What i don’t like is the software that comes with it , the microkorg XL has a much better software that comes with it. also i don’t like about it is the interface it’s just not pretty to look @
2nd thing that i don’t like about this microkorg is the fact it does not have a usb connection ,
What i like about this microkorg
Well 1st of that korg sound , it’s the best ! also i love the midi through function it has a quarter inch plug input on the back , the vocoder is Fuckin ah some ! , I really love the small size it’s great to travel with i often bring it as a carry on for longer flights from Europe to Us. I love the fact that the actual interface of the hardware is so easy to navigate though!
So if u can get to guitar center or sam ash i am sure that they have one on display to jam with check it out it’s REALLY BAD ASS !
Also tip 4 ableton users , the exteranl instrument is a EASY AND QUICK way to use all your hardware synths in ableton
Also in ableton it’s great to use the ENVOPLE tab. To make some really quick easy automations of your sounds via the microkorg … Also lots of great electronic artists have used this micro korg … such as daft punk , chromeo and many more so check it out @ korg’s site click here
SPECS
State-of-the-art analog modeling and multi-band vocoding are available in this compact, portable synthesizer vocoder.
With 37 keys and 128 user-rewritable programs, the microKORG Synthesizer/Vocoder is perfect for the performer, producer, computer musician or beginner looking for an affordable synthesizer. The Korg microKORG delivers the quality sounds and features you expect from Korg at a price that will astound you.
Powerful synthesis
The microKORG boasts the same dual-oscillator DSP synthesis engine found in Korg’s critically acclaimed MS2000 and offers a wider selection of waveforms than any other modeled synth. Oscillator 1 features a total of 71 waveforms including traditional analog waves like saw, pulse, sine and noise, plus more unique choices like Vox wave and cross wave. Together they provide a cool selection that can be modulated to produce an extensive range of timbres. In addition, 64 exclusive DWGS waveforms from Korg’s classic DW-8000 enable the microKORG to reproduce a broad collection of imitative sounds. Sounds like bells, electric pianos, guitars, basses and more that would be difficult reproduce on an analog synthesizer can easily be produced with a synthesizer vocoder such as the microKorg. You can also apply Ring and Sync modulation from Oscillator 2 to create the kind of complex timbres that are the true sign of an advanced synthesizer.
Four filter modes are available, offering -12 dB (2-pole) low pass, high pass and band pass configurations plus an extra steep -24 dB (4-pole) low pass setting. All modes and settings include resonance. Two classic ADSR envelope generators and two MIDI-syncable LFOs provide the power to shape your sounds. Add a Virtual Patch matrix that lets you create advanced modulation settings – routing the Mod Wheel to control filter cutoff or pulse width, using an LFO to control panning or amp level, etc. – and you have performance that is unheard of from a synthesizer vocoder in this price range!
Classic vocoding
The microKORG includes an 8-band synthesizer vocoder with many advanced features. You can capture and “freeze” the formants of your voice, and then play it across the keyboard, or shift the formant frequency to make your voice sound male, female, like a child or just plain wacky! Best of all, the microKORG comes with its own microphone so you can start having fun right away.
A full range of effects
Three types of modulation effects (chorus/flanger, phaser, ensemble), three types of delay effects (stereo, cross, L/R), and a two-band equalizer add the finishing touches to the microKORG. The delays can be synchronized with the arpeggiator or to an external MIDI clock – a great feature for live performances or for laying down tracks. All effects can be edited to create your own, unique sounds.
Great sounds and expression
Korg has used all of the microKorg’s synthesis power in the creation of 128 great-sounding presets. They cover a wide range of the latest musical styles plus many vintage favorites. Sixteen vocoder Programs are also included. The Pitch Bend wheel, Modulation wheel and five other knobs provide flexible realtime control over filter cutoff, attack, release and other important parameters. The Edit Mode allows you to fully edit the existing sounds or create your own new ones.
Flexible arpeggiator
Six types of arpeggio patterns (UP, DOWN, ALT1/2, Random, Trigger) are built in, with control over tempo, gate time, swing, and up to a 4-octave range. You can turn individual steps on or off within a pattern, providing the feel and functionality of a step sequencer.
Audio in – Creativity out
Two external audio input jacks are provided, so you can run other instruments, CDs and more through the microKORG’s filter and effects, allowing you to process sounds in truly creative ways.
A compact MIDI controller
The compact size of the microKORG synthesizer vocoder is perfect for the musician or DJ looking to add a synth to his or her setup when space is tight and it is a great choice for use in a computer-based music setup. The five realtime knobs on the front panel can transmit MIDI messages (control changes), so they can be used as controllers for software synthesizers. Use the 37-note velocity-sensitive mini-keyboard for controlling other gear or for recording and editing with your sequencer. And thanks to battery-power, the microKORG synthesizer vocoder is the ultimate portable controller when used with a laptop computer!
Clear control and classic looks
There’s no complex menu structure – all parameters are located on the panel for easy access to any function. A large dial and LED illuminated buttons provide easy program selection even on a dark stage. With its beige-gold body, wooden side panels and retro-influenced design, the microKORG has a look that’s both vintage and funky.
This is a great expansion pack if you are into bass sounds and leads sounds and pads , This is just like it says an expansion of Native instruments massive synth , but it does not stop there it also works in the free kore player and kore 2 , now those of u that use kore 2 you do understand how u can access massive via the kore 2 player , or just go straight into massive and utilize the sounds from there. When I am creating a track love to use massive opposed to the free kore player due to the fact that i have complete control over the synth. I usually choose a preset then go ahead and tweak that preset to my liking. So if I find something i like I can go to the syth edit page and if i don’t like the sine wav for example on oscillator 1 , I can change that to a sqare or something else , I can change the filter or the signal flow , edit the stepper and so on.
So for those of u that are into massive really a great pick ! This expansion pack contains
45 basses, 40 leads, 40 pads and choirs, 25 keys, mallets and plucked sounds, 20 chords and brass sounds, 20 percussive synth sounds, 5 drum sounds, 5 sfx and soundscapes.
this can be purchased @ your local music store , many big music companies online or VIA native instruments web site and down load it right now via their download store and you can also down load it for mac or pc or both
This is ah some , It’s just what it says it’s a Oscillator you trigger the oscillator by using your fingers along the black X , Y pad that is provided , the number of sounds almost seems endless. Korg makes two Kaossilator , this one i have shown you is the more basic of the 2. The more expensive one does have more banks to record your ideas on the fly , I believe that the more expensive one has 4 banks , this one here alows you to record up to 2 Bars of music and then layer that with other sounds so you can throw down a drum loop then add a arp lead pattern then a sound efx and another drum loop.
IT”S AH SOME , I originally bought this as a gift for some one i know who is just getting into music but i ended up using it much more , if I would of know how KOOL this machine is I would of bought the better one , Korg also makes a limited edition of this kaossilator that comes in pink that is an E.U release only I believe. Be sure to check this out at guitar center or sam ash if they have one on the shelf to play with. I usually end up using this in my tracks often I use the sound effects and transform leads in to arp patterns and so forth it has a pretty nice app or trans gate built in to it. I usually bring this on the plane with me for those long flights , It can run with the power from the wall or 2 AA batteries. This is great for kids just getting into music or adults that love synthesis and THAT FAMOUS KORG SOUND
This Is so ILL , It can be used in a few ways you can use this VIA your DAW with reactor or Stand Alone Via reactor ,
Its an synth , and effect machine , you feed it a signal anything u want beats , vocals , guitar , what ever u can think of , and take it from there , you can come up with some wicked sounds i suggest you just go at it head on. Me personally i really enjoy this because of it’s pleasing and very simple interface. That is a big plus having a easy interface to cruse though. You can create arps , synths , beat effects , wicked vocal effects. This software IS AMAZING.
it generates melodies and harmonies like i said previously , all you need to do is feed it a audio signal , from beats to vocals , any wave form that u might have !  This is MUST HAVE SO GET AT IT !
What a power full synth , I have been playing with this synth for about 2 and half years but really only learning it the last 4 months , ITS GREAT , its sound is really massive and this is due to the 3 oscillators that load some pretty creative wav form functions , what you can do with each oscillators switch between like say a saw tooth and a square wav. and like i said this works for all 3 oscillators , it also has a fantastic noise generator so u can pretty much look at this like it has 4 oscillators , one thing that i really love about massive is u can change your signal flow.
Another interesting thing about native instruments massive is it’s Steppers AND lfo section , you can drag and drop parameters any where in the synth I still haven’t really fully grabbed the whole potential of the machine but I do use it a lot . Native Instruments has really out done the music world with this powerful synth.
It’s great for all genres of electronic music and just about what ever you can think up.
And talk about the add on’s , they have 3 volumes of sound packs to expand your massive synth , Massive Expansion Vol 1 & 2 , And Massive Threat , You can also access the Urban Arsenal Sounds From Urban Arsenal Vol 1 & 2 Via the Massive synth for complete control. So be sure to check out this synth it’s WONDERFUL POWERFULL AND ADDICTIVE !
I am not sure hope to explain this , check out the video 4 sure , it’s an effect machine more or less , try to think of it like a guitar player has his petal box of effects , while this is kind of like that. This is the ultimate in EFX madness , it has 40 effects and algorithms , along with a real time sampler filters , transformers , delays , verb , distortion , gaters , wave shapers , ring mods , and more , more or less every key on your midi controller is a different effect type , there are 2 ways u can accesses the finger , the easy way or a quick way to get started is using it VIA The Kore player though the fx button , but a way to have more control over it us it though reactor that’s the best way to use it in my opinion , but 4 sure check out the finger by Tim exile this is a Native Instruments EFX BOMB
The Free Kore Player From Native Instruments this is actually a free download from the Berlin Software Giants Native Instruments. This packs the power of all their software under one hood making it VERY EASY to get into the N.I software. I must say this is what really started me cursing on their software 4 sure. It has the massive engine, kontack engine, reactor engine and more packed under this stand alone or vst , or rtas. This software has a great navigation set up on the left that filters out your results displaying them on the right , at the top of software you will see 8 knobs that you are able to map to a midi controller or automate though your DAW. This is GREAT automation is GOOD !  ,  But it doesn’t stop there its not only a sythn and a drum machine ! it’s also a EFX plug in…. NICE ! :]
You can start with the few EFX that come with the free player but you really can get creative with some of their add on sound packs such as deep transformations or deep freq. EXPAND YOUR MIND AND YOUR TRACKS with these innovative efx sound packs , ! You can also use the finger though kore if you are not comfortable using it VIA reactor !
So for a FREE DOWNLOAD FROM N.I you cant go wrong , Be sure to check out some of their add on sound packs such as Massive Threat , Expansion VOL 1 AND 2, Urban Arsenal VOL 1 AND 2 , FM8 Transient Attacks , BEST of Absynth , and MANY MANY MORE !
