Who Influenced You ?

Biggest influences have to be Stevie Wonder for songwriting, Quincy Jones for production in general, Pat Metheny for musicianship, and more recently MJ cole, MAW, Armand Van Helden and John Mayer

What do you like most about producing/Djing music ?

To be honest, I am too shit to make it as a session musician or performer on a particular instrument so I decided to be an all rounder, thanks to the technology it actually makes me sound half decent… also the DJing helps me play my music in front of people which i miss being in the studio all the time

Where do you think producing and electronica music will be in the Future ?

That’s the golden question, if i knew the answer to that I’m sure i would make a fortune. I think the emphasis will change more towards the performance and DJs and electronic musicians are going to have to give a little more when it comes to playing live. It is so easy to download music these days but you cannot beat the experience of seeing a live performance and thats impossible to replicate (at the moment)

If you could record with any artists living or dead who would it be ?

I would love to do a cutting edge track with Stevie or the late Marvin Gaye…

Imogen Heap, Hide and Seek…awesome

If you also Dj Where have you spun ?

I have played all over the world with Artful Dodger, Dubai, USA, Glastonbury (15000 people) Hyde Park (90,000) these days I am a bedroom DJ again though til I get back out there.

Best party ?
Best party I played was probably in Chicago and I’m not just saying that to blow smoke up your ass lol, I can’t remember the name of the club, It was when I did a tour of the US under the name Artful Dodger, I opened the set with Gotta Get Through This by Daniel Bedingfield and the place fucking errupted, awesome Crowd, real partygoers

What is HOTTEST club you HAVE ever BEEN ?

Has to be Pacha, Ibiza…still kicks every other clubs backside

what gear do u prefer ?

Logic and pro tools for production
Traktor Scratch, Technics 1210s, Pioneer CDjs and mixer and Sennheiser Cans

What moves you as an artist ?

Seeing a sea of people bubbling to one of your own tunes, gets me everytime…

If you could change one thing about Djing/Producing what would it be ?

The stigma of using software to mix…It isn’t fucking cheating people, it allows more creativity, thats like saying mobile phones are cheating compared to carrier pigeons, using a car is cheating because it gets you somewhere quicker than a horse. I don’t see the crowd complaining…to be fair, these days i don’t see the crowd lol…

If you could change one thing about the WORLD what would it be ?

It’s shape, I’d like it to be a cube!

(sorry I should say something poignant about global warming here but it’s a bit predictable. Sort out your carbon footprint people, i would quite like it if my daughter didn’t have to grow gills to survive!!!!)

If someone is interested in starting to produce their own music what peace of advice would you offer ?

Buy a Mac!!!! It’s the most essential piece of Kit for allowing you to be creative. The next thing is to be determined and put the hours in!!! it takes time and effort to be good at what you do. Nobody deserves success just because they have a talent.
