THE INTERVIEW
Who Influenced You ?
Dj Irene and Donald Glaude. I remember it so vividly to this day when I first saw them together. I was going threw a really rough part of my life and I had been listening to dance music but hadn’t really done anything with it. I went to there show and man was I floored. I loved it and it brought me a sense of peace inside of my heart and my life. I felt alive again.
What do you like most about producing/Djing music ?
I love the feeling of man this is gonna sound badass live. When i’m djing im in another world. I get into this zone this feeling and one with the crowd. I’ve always said that djing brings me peace and it allows me to escape my past and escape everything that has gone on in my life. To be able to push people and to make them forget for that one moment about there life’s is what makes it all worth it for me. I really been wanting to write a book about my life cause I feel like I was left here after all the suicide attempts and the drug overdoses that I was left here for a reason to show people you can succeed and that you can accomplish anything and last but most importantly that people change.
Where do you think producing and electronica , house music will be in the Future ?
I really feel the industry can be at to for front of music. The industry needs a face. Someone to associate with dance music. It doesn’t have that charismatic character yet that can push it to a whole new level. Right now the industry is geared more towards the producers of electronic music and its a changing landscape it will change again. I actually like playing live more then I do producing because playing live is a science to me. I love creating that energy with a crowd. Candy stompin and jumping and making a crowd scream its just such an honor to make people happy
If you could record with any artists living or dead who would it be ?
Elvis. He was the it guy for so many years and even after his death he has been able to still stick around that’s unheard of for an artist. I hope to be that good one day.
The last song you just listened to ?
Free
If you also Dj Where have you spun ?
I’ve spun in seattle new york detroit vegas and dallas and mexico city
Best party ?
Mexico city it was a blast I loved it. I was so drunk that I could barely walk to the stage. I don’t know how I did it but I played the best I feel I’ve ever played that night. It felt good to be in place like that. My family migrated from mexico and I have always had a very special place in my heart for mexico and always will because I feel closer to my grandparents when I am there even though they are gone it felt like they were able to see I had finally made it.
What is HOTTEST club you HAVE ever BEEN ?
Hmm good question I forgot the name of it but the women were incredible. Gosh I wish I could remember the name of it.
what gear do u prefer ?
Cdj-1000 with the DJ 800 and my laptop
What moves you as an artist ?
New music man. I love new music and the sound that’s what gets me going. I love right before I get to a club buying some new tracks and listening to them before my show and playing them man that’s what gets me going. I love new tracks
If you could change one thing about Djing/Producing what would it be ?
I really would love to change how alot of promoters are man. I’ve had so many promoters fall threw for me man that you know it gets frustrating. The perfect example would be a charity event I was gonna do out in chi town man it was gonna be for sexually abused kids because I had just told the world I was sexually abused as a kid and it hurt me bad it had made me feel like total shit. I wanted to turn it into something good and a way for me to say fuck it I’m done I’m not going to be a victim anymore. We got contacted by so named promoter to set up a event and we got the charity to sign off on it and then the promoter fell threw and I still owe those kids a show man to raise that money for them because I am one of them and it hurt alot because I felt I had let those kids down man. I owe them one. I really wanted to go out on that stage and be there voice. I still do and I will get it set up they will have there day to speak man and I want the event to be huge.
If you could change one thing about the WORLD what would it be ?
The way people look at other people that are different. You know this culture the electronic music scene man and the rave culture it took me in as one of there own and for once in my life I felt accepted for being myself. I’m not a big talker man and I allow my music to speak for me and the way I play to speak for my emotions but this scene changed me inside man. I feel for once in my life I am accomplishing something more. I am a leader of the few man and I love it.
If someone is interested in starting to produce their own music what peace of advice would you offer ?
Don’t give up and don’t be afraid to experiment man. Be yourself don’t sound like the rest. What makes those few special artist special is they started a new revolution man and that’s what you should start your revolution. You know your gonna get alot of no’s let me tell you I’ve had plenty and still do to this day. Don’t give up on your dreams. I’ve always said that I don’t want to be one of those people who always say what could of been because I want to be the guy that said I know what was. I if I don’t make then I don’t but at least I tried. Don’t give up on yourself never let it go keep playing till your heart tells you to stop. Be the person who knows what was
What Does Music Do for YOU ?
Music has done so much for me. It was there for me when I was down it was there when my life was going good and its here now that I’m trying to accomplish my dream. Music is my life and I love living in it.
