GK Monarken is a band from Sweden consisting of three guys in their twenties. We try to make the kind of music we like, and although the core of our music is always rap, we take influences from all genres we love. We’ve found out that house/electro is both fun to write rap-lyrics to, and a great way to make people dance, so a lot of our songs are based on that genre. Our lyrics are generally in swedish, but the message is international, let’s have fun, let’s enjoy music and let’s go!
Who Influenced You ?
Lots of people, from Eminem to Tiesto and Bodyroxx. Our music has always been about mixing styles and genres, thus the miced influences.
What do you like most about djing and or producing ?
The power of music, to make people smile or dance.
Your Thoughts on vinyl vs mixing software.
Vinyl is nice for the feeling, but if it’s about speed and presicion, software or digital consoles has always been our weapon of choice
The last song you just listened to ?
An unreleased track from ourselves actually, I’ve spent this morning writing lyrics. Before that, the last song i heard was from a rap mixtape, that actually sucked quite hard

New years eve 07-08, best party ever!
Worst party ?
Some gig in Eskilstuna a couple of years ago, actually before the concept of GK Monarken was really founded. Long story short, we got drunk before the gig and really fucked up!
Even worse was, that the DJ-rig we’d hired started lagging and autolooping the tracks.. really annoying!

If you could change one thing about the music industry what would it be
Even out the gaps between bands of equal prowess. Some bands who are supported by bigger labels get treated like stars, while equal or better bands have to swim thru shit every day just to make a living! I believe this is happening right now, at least I hope so!
If you could change one thing about the world you live in what would that be
Eliminate the belligerence in the human mind, today the cons are far more than the pros!
