BIOGRAPHY:
Alessandro Russo aka SLOK is an Italian musician, dj and label manager who started his career with productions as forerunner of the italian’s breakbeat, Jungle & drum n bass, with his albums ‘They Call it Jungle’ and ‘Freak 2000’ produced for Irma Records.
Later he changes his style to electronic sounds and on 2006, the international club hit ‘Lonely Child’ released on the Satoshie Tomiie / Hector Romero’s imprint SAW Recordings boosted his musical career quickly. He already released on such estimeed electronic labels like PLASTIC FANTASTIC (as Stereonova), GET PHYSICAL, ACUTE, 4KENZO, TURBO, MY FAVORITE ROBOT, JUICY SPAIN, and of course on his own ELECTRONIC PETZ MUSIC label. He also runs Magma, a syndication radio show underground dance orientated aired on 47 FM italian Radio stations. He has turned the world as dj on France, Russia, Canada, Croatia, Portugal, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Hungary and of course he’s well-know in his native Italy.
NEWS: Actually he’s working (Selecting / Mixing) on a new mixed CD album ‘Exploring Italy’ a piece of discography that will represent the actual italian electronic music scene in the world, the release date is planned for April 2009 on BAROQUE RECORDS, and also on KING KONG Records with a Sharam Jay Single remix work and on ELECKTRONIC SOUL’s Onionz label too. His productions received the support of many major players such Sasha, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, DJ T, M.A.N.D.Y, Tiga, Pete Tong, Robert Babicz, Paul Van Dyk and many more.

Who Influenced You ?
The passion for my work…Jazz, Funky, Reggae, Rock, acustic and electronic sounds.
What do you like most about djing and or producing ?
Both give me the opportunity to travel and have fun with music.
Your Thoughts on vinyl vs mixing software.
I started with vinyls, now due the big ammount of promos I receive
I mix with CD players…I didnt tryed yet with Serato, Ableton, Traktor etc…
But lots of dj’s now are using mixing softwares as many dj are still playing vinyls.
Music softwares allow anyone to mix music with their automatic functions.
And today even on iPhone and Samsung mobiles supports a digital interface
for mix music by the touch screen.
Honestly, I don’t care about it…the playlist is important…and mainly:
Do you wanna be a dj? Ok, so you MUST BUY MUSIC and STOP COPY!!!
The last song you just listened to ?
1 hour before during a meeting on one of my management office here in Paris,
the agency owner was listening some free electro jazz…to be honest I don’t
remember the artist name…but it was interesting a the right music for talking
about busines and future plans.

Worst party ?
See worst things is up to us…sometimes I enjoyed play music for 10 people
and almost of time I enjoy to play music for myself.
Party is a way to feel good inside naturally, Even in life there, are good and bad times.
Sometimes I feel bad inside…it’s the natural human feeling, like the gray or the blue sky,
like the night!
what gear do u prefer to mix on?
Very basic 2xPioneer CD players & mixer with 3 bands eq.
What gear did you start on
2x Technics 1200 Mk2 (black) - with a little 2 ch. Gemini Mixer without eq control.
If you could change one thing about the music industry what would it be
Sure, give more space to real artist and less to fake marketing artists!
If you could change one thing about the world you live in what would that be
Good question…today people need costantly to show how they are cool, nice, super, how much
they have, who they are…etc…almost like a peacock lol
So, I would love to use a syringe for take out from the heads this diffused disease!
We are apes!!! Go back to the zoo!!! huhuhuhuh!!! Don’t forget it!!! ahahah lol
